Does any one have suggestions regarding brands of sanding belts? I recently tried Norton Metalite on my Powermatic Belt / Disk sander, and even being cautious regarding tension and light loading, they had a tendency to come from together dramatically after 20 minutes of intermittent use.

thanks

If looking for something local. Lowe's stocks Shopsmith brand ceramic sanding belts that are a very good quality.

Sanding belts are NOT something you should stock up on. The glue goes bad on belts when they get old. Only buy what you need or will use within a year. If they are older than that, expect them to come apart sometime during use. This seems to apply to any of the sanding belts no matter what brand, but the better quality belts, like those from Klingspore, seem to last longer for me. I have tried many glues to repair older belts and have never been very succassful at it.
