Feel free to critique or comment. One of my latest. Basic bowl out of spalted red sycamore with gloss poly finish. needs to dry overnight and get a few more coats of the thinned poly as well as some on the inside but I feel like my results are getting better to only be 2.5 months in to turning. Can't wait to get the big Laguna to turn on though. :)

Hey Greg...very nice...The wood is beautiful. And I gotta say that you have the curve down perfectly. Personally, I don't care for the flat top but that's just me.
How do you feel about your wall thickness? Are you sneaking up on a thin wall? Just wondering about how you feel about it

Thanks John. I would like it to be thinner but I'm free handing the hollowing so I went to my comfort level. The top is probably 1/8" thick. My sides and bottom are around 1/4" thick. I was using the pro version easy wood tools goose neck style hollower. One of these days I'll get a hollowing jig with a laser or wire guide so I can get a better feel for exactly where I'm at. No room for these setups on the little nova comet but the new Laguna should handle them.

Ps your work is inspirational. I've been watching your posts the last few weeks. Thanks again.

Thanks for the compliment Greg....Inspiration from other people is what drove me.
I don't use a laser or any other contraption that is popular these days. I feel my way...I listen to the wood...and do the best I can with what I've got.
That's the beauty of the art

Enjoy yourself

Wow!! Beautiful piece. And I like them thick. What a pretty piece of wood and a great job at the lathe.
