I got this Buckeye Burl Blank the other day and it looked pretty good. But when I got down near the right size for the pen, I found that it was riddled with worm holes and tracks. Decided to give epoxy a try, after a discussion with Earl Reid today about this very thing.
I took a piece of Ebony and belt-sanded it on to a piece of paper. Mixed the Ebony dust with the epoxy and filled all the holes. I was pretty surprised with the results. It is finished with Shellac and a final Crystal Coat. Comments and alternative suggestions are most welcome!
