We had a need for a narrow side table next to an easy chair, and QSWO was favored due to the room decor. My pile of offcuts and extras yielded all the necessary stock. I went with a modified mission style with thru tenons for the trestle stretcher and pegged bridle joints for the feet and top supports. The top is attached with blind dowels from below, and the bottom edge is beveled to add some lightness and the illusion of floating. Not sure how the mishmash of design elements is working, but it seems to hold a drink off the floor just fine. Finish is amber Trans Tint dye followed by walnut stain that was wiped down well after application. After a couple days of drying I gave it a coat of Watco Danish Oil (natural). Once dry, I applied a seal coat of clear shellac and paste wax over that rubbed in with 000 steel wool. A quick buff yielded a really nice look.
