You know you've got a big bandsaw when the blade welder is built in. That's some pretty amazing stuff they have for sale. If a person knew what he was doing, it looks like some good prices could be had, too.

Bummer, the secret is out. You guys found this forum to spend some money on junk.:D

!). Oliver Jointer

http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=684458

This is a darn nice jointer. It is a late model or very early model with ITCH head retrofit. ITCH is a carbide insert cutter head. But this jointer is missing its fence. Story has it that oliver sold these jointer as facing machines and as such never had fences to go with them. Finding a fence for a #12 is no easy task. Be prepared to pay $1000 to $2500 for a single replacement used fence. Dont even consider ordering a new one from eagle machinery! You can buy a new GM car for that!

But the jointer is a #12 and I plan on selling my #166 jointer and replacing it with #12 jointer because the #12 jointer can rotate its infeed table or draft as the patternmakers call it. There is no need to draft in standard woodworking. This is usually a patternmaker thing which allows you to put draft angles on items. As I can fabricate and machine a new fence, I may be bidding on this jointer. I just have not decided yet. Who ever gets it will have some serious work ahead of them but they will end up with a mighty fine jointer!

There is also a baxter 36 in wood planer. This is a super beast and it needs a bit of work. No one has bid on it yet. If you want the mother of all planers, this is it. Loading this on your pick up truck will be like a mouse trying to bench press a 50 pound sack of cracked corn!:D

You guys were joking about making casket boxes with that itsie bitsie tiny DoALl? Never Mind! Here is the tool for making casket boxes! This bad boy tips the scale at about 8000 pounds and uses 20 ponies to power the band.

To qoute that australian actor a few years back.... "That aint no bandsaw.... this is a bandsaw!".:D

O.K. Guys... have at it.

Lou...
Your right. I would love to have the ship's saw. I thought that only tanny made these until I came across this fay and egan. And it seems to be fairly modern.

For those who dont know this. The bandsaw is set on a cresant shaped way system and can rotate. It was used to cut complex wooden ship parts back in the day. So you can change your blade angle while cutting. Trick, No?

The worst thing is that soon there will be no more of these left to buy at auction. Then when we do have room and dead presidents available for this type of purchase, the saws will be gone. In the hands of serious collector types or dealers who will want the earth for them. Or worse yet...... the scrappers laddle! Forgive me for saying this.

Check out the photo and live vicariously for now.

Nice little 36" Northfield wood cutting bandsaw that only takes a 19" blade:-) - probably closer to 228".

Damn, the secret is out.

I had my eye on the Powermatic 66 and the oscilating spindle sander at Ft Meade. The prices got "pricey" real quick though so I didn't bid on them.

I have experience with DRMO operations and would normally be very leery of stuff like this unless you could get a real steal on it. I was hoping to pick up both the spindle sander and Powermatic 66 for under $200.

I did bid on and win an M11 rifle rack. Picked it up yesterday at Ft Meade. I pissed GL off because I was there on a Monday to pick it up. Their fine print says to call and make an appointment. I guess I wasn't the only one confused though, as there were two other people who showed up yesterday for unscheduled pick-ups. Oh well, no complaints. At least they didn't make me come back today. I would probly have missed the appointment anyway because of the suspected terrorist activity closing the harbor tunnel in Baltimore.
