Spent 16 hours on the road picking up a few machines.
The big planer is a bit on the heavy side.

6k pound lift and a 7200 pound planer. My neighbor has a 8k pound lull, but was out of town.

Your far enough away from the trailer, for gods sakes lower that planer closer to the ground before something bad happens, especially when you counter weight is made up of random odds and ends you found laying around.

First thing I thought BUT based on where his hands are I am guessing he did it for the photo op, plus it isn't like he doesn't move this sort of stuff on a regular basis but it is a good point.

I lifted it up, sat it back down on trailer, lifted it up then got off lift, pulled trailer out from under it, got back on the lift and sat planer down.

I was not backing up or moving with that planer at that height.

My soon to be wife was taking pictures, I told her stay out of the way.

I have picked up a 404 Mattison with my lift. Have a bit of time in that seat.

My right hand is on the lever to lower the mast. She took a video of me lowering it down.

Darcy, if you still have the Schwaubedissen you should post a picture. If I didn't have four jointers I would be all over it. Dave

It's actually apart. Bearing was noisy, which led to new bearings and I am thinking about having a Hermance head made for it, maybe having the tables planed as well.
Be an expensive machine after all that.

Do you have a guy who planes tables? would be a shame to have them ground. Dave

You see what happens? One day your wife says, "Could you make a box for my jewelry?" The next thing you know, you're moving a 3-ton planer into your garage.

And buying jewelry to compensate. Dave

I got rid of one that did nothing but complain.

I had a customer looking for a 20" jointer, had someone else looking for a big planer and I may keep the Baurele planer as you don't find many of those in the US.
It does need gear box repair though.

I made chips with the 166 jointer tonight.

Planer is under power now. Had to run a new 480v circuit down to my test area.
Love the way these big old planers sound.

Not my best video, but I needed to do one quick before I shove it in a corner.

Kewel tool. That slow feed rate should present a very nice finish.

Probably be better if the knives were not beat to death.

It lived a pretty easy life planing sugar pine and mahogany in a pattern shop.

Did you bid on the big Oliver Bandsaw ?

There were two. I have 4 right now, or 5. Think they sold for 1900 each, plus 22% and rigging.

I'm sure Darcy will answer but if he does not see this he does sell machines and IIRC he is in North Central Indiana.

Don't get married. I used to think it was a joke, until I got married.

I got rid of one last year that wanted nothing to do with anything I did. Put her through nursing school and practically raised our 3 kids while she did her thing.

Now she is trying to keep my kids from me and is suing me.

A woman can make or break a man. I just met my soon to be wife in July, she treats me like the most important person on earth, is amazing to my kids, wants to go with me when I drag around machinery
And helps me with anything she can do for me.

I sometimes feel like I don't deserve to be so lucky.

Jointer is cleaned, wired for low voltage and sounds great.

Even made some chips with it.
