For those of you who have been following this saga...
Looks like I am going to be able to salvage the ruberized finish I put on the percussion rack I made. I think I made 1 major mistake (only 1 isn't bad for me). It would appear that I put the first coat on much too thick. This required me to keep re-brushing to try to keep up with the runs and drips. Several thinner coats seems to be the answer.
After a couple more days to allow the finish to FULLY cure it seems to have stuck MUCH better (I just got impatient). Looks like I will be able sand the worst of the runs and drips and get back to a reasonably smooth finish. Following this up with a couple more thinner coats with ample drying time will result in an acceptable finish.
