I need to make up a box out of 2” thick Styrofoam. Is there a permanent glue other than contact cement that would work well?

Watch it, some glues will melt it. I use Gorilla Glue. It tends to expand
so you have to clamp or tape it until it's good and dry.

The make stuff specifically for gluing styro that comes in caulking gun tubes. It's usually by the Liquid Nails/etc at most stores. I think they make the special stuff for styro because some of the other construction adhesives will dissolve the foam.

When I glued insulation to the inside of a dog house I just used the yellow stuff. That was 3 years ago and it's still holding out in the weather.

Bruce,
Liquid Nails makes a glue that works with foam.

Thanks guys, I took Don's advice and used yellow glue and it worked great. I'm pretty sure that the 2" styrofoam would break before the glued butt joints would let go.
