I tried searching the archives and also at woodmizer.com for help, but no luck.

Does anyone here know of a portable sawmill sawyer that I could contact to saw up some trees in my Dad's yard?

My Dad is in the Northwest suburbs area of Chicago.

Also, maybe I should have put this first. I'm not sure of the amount of wood we'd get from the trees. I think I read here that most sawyers won't move their mill for less than 100bf.

He has a couple maple trees, one has trunk about 46" around, about 40' tall, with 3 large braches reaching up to that approx. height. The other is a little thicker around and not as tall.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Linc

Linc: I don`t but you may try this.
Do a Google search for "Sawmills in Illinois".
I did the same in Iowa and got a list in Iowa of all working sawmills in the state from the Iowa Department of Agriculture that included addresses and phone numbers. I found 4 in neighboring counties including a portable bandsaw mill belonging to a friend I had back in the 80`s who I had lost touch with.

A friend of a friend who lives in the northern suburbs owns a band saw mill. I don't know if does work for hire. I'll ask about it and get back to you.
