For those who have submitted photos, what program do you use to get the pixel size down to the maximum permitted? I use Microsoft Picture It but the minimum pixel reduction is more than what this forum permits.

Also, any other tips on the procedure for uploding photos would be appreciated.

Try PIXresizer. (http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm) It is simple to use and is FREE :D

I'm sure there are others that have more features, but this one is simple and works pretty well.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. Easy re-sizing and touch-up. It runs ~$80. Microsoft Photo Editor included (in Office) also does a pretty good job.

I use Photoshop CS but there are other programs that'll work great (and for a lot less money). Pixresizer gets a lot of good comments. I like to size them to ~750 pixels on the horizontal edge and about 45 kb file size. I also suggest that you sharpen them after you resize them with what the program offers.

If you're using Windows XP Microsoft has a free pic resizer that's about as idiotproof as it gets. This link is to Microsoft's free 'powertoys' page for Windows XP. If you're not using Win XP, they have powertoys for other versions of Windows if you search around. The resizer powertoy on this page couldn't be simpler. You can do one or multiple pics just by right-clicking on the file in Explorer.

My go-to graphic resizer (it does a lot of other things, too) is Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/). It's free, stable, small footprint, and it's great for resizing or converting one file type to another, i.e., .bmp to .jpg, or .raw to .gif. I use Irfanview almost daily for both work stuff and my own playing around.

No affiliation, just a satisfied user.
