Hi,

I am new to engraving so looking for some advice. I have an order powder coated yeti lowballs. I am running my machine which is a Gravograph LS100 IQ at 100 power, 35 speed, 500 dpi and I keep getting the same outcome with every cup. I have adjusted the power and speed, 1 or 2 passes and I am not sure what is happening. Looks to me like the powder is not fully coming off, anybody have an idea? Might have to zoom in, there is almost like a gray haze where the machine engraved.

Thanks!

Common problem with Engraving through Powder Coating. Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser will clean it up.

Didn't think about that, I've been using a paint prep which is okay not great though. I will give the Magic Eraser a try. Could it possibly be my DPI?

It is customary to have to clean residue on painted items. It is not likely that you will get a "clean" engrave even with two passes or higher dpi. Most of us use the Magic Eraser or some solvent to clean the residue. It's not a big problem.

glad to have you on the forum.
