20 TURNING TOOLS









I saw these tools today at a Uk auction they are 20 Robert sorby miniature turning tools All of the tools were stamped Robert Sorby the the older tools had cast steel stamped on them The collection of 20 tools sold for $105

Looks like only 5 turning tools. I think all the others are wood chisels.

Brian, I think all of the octagon handled tools are Sorby boxwood carving/wood chirps - not turning tools. Still a good buy, but I wouldn't use them for turning.

I could be wrong without seeing them in person and visible.

Thank you John for your post and observation....... the octagon handled tools are Sorby boxwood carving/wood chirps

What I found interesting was the range of tools and they were very tactile I found myself repeatedly going back to the tools and simply picking them up

Also at an average price of $5 a tool they were as you suggest still a good buy

When I did a preliminary search for cast steel (which was stamped on the majority of the tools )I found this link

Just realized auto correct on my phone typed "chirps" for chisels! I need to work on my thumb control when typing.😄

Definitely a good buy, Brian.
