And my first attempt at a platter. Drove me nuts...I am so slow that it seemed to warp before I could finish one side!:eek: I learned a whole lot though and the next one will be better. I really don't like the bottom on this one. Need to make the underside of the rim thinner and change the base. Just didn't want you guys to think Jenny was sitting idle since I got her! The platter will be Ok for my biscuits.:D

What caused it warp? Was it a green turning?

From what I see it the photos it looks great! You forgot to state the diameter. I like the form. Were you able to "turn" it flat or does it still have some warp? Again, it is a fine looking platter.

It's about 13" in dia. The wood was at about 12% MC which is as low as you are likely to get around here air drying. It still has a very tiny bit of "wobble" if you press on the end grain sides.

Beautiful first platter, Carole! You are becoming such a fine turner and now with Jenny nothing is there to hold you back!!!! Keep up the beautiful work but keep your hands off my biscuits!:p :D

Looks good to me Carole. I like the wood grain. It looks like there was a rusty nail in the right middle top side.

Ernie, that's the beetle tracks. I filled them with epoxy and walnut dust.
