Looking for some good quality disc punches from say 1/4" to 1" Anyone use these things and maybe they are called something different. But the disc size needs to be accurate. Thanks.

They are sometimes called gasket punches.

Don't know what material you are looking to punch, but for leather, paper and cloth CS Osborne (http://www.csosborne.com)makes an excellent product. I use them all the time for making replacement parts for player piano and organ work. Here's a link to their punches: http://www.csosborneleathertools.com/category/punches

It will be the case that the size will vary slightly if you sharpen them by honing the inside edge with a conical stone. Makes no difference for my work, but you may need a different technology or sharpening method if you need accuracy to ten thousandths of an inch.

Standard punches for the die cutting and diemaking industry from manufacturers like Frank Wagner & Sons ( www.wagnerdiesupply.com (http://www.wagnerdiesupply.com)) have a tolerance of +/-.002" for the cutting edge. Check out their on-line catalog for sizes and styles. Normally you will have to buy through a distributor.
