Got a great deal on some 3/4" maple. Being already dimensioned and not having a fresh face what about glue adhesion? Specifically face side, should it be sanded or wiped dn with something?
Not talking about any special contamination - just not a fresh face.

Gluing is always best on a freshly milled or planed face or edge- within about 24 hours. Certainly though, I have had to stretch that a bit.

Unless the maple has been coated with something, there is no need to do anything for gluing. If the faces or edges are straight and smooth they should glue up just fine.
