If you want to make wooden toys take a look at "The Great All American Wooden Toy Book". They have a crane and flat bed truck in addition to the following examples.

Thanks, those look great. I do have some wooden toy books and one on turned toys. Good fun.

I liked the design of the crane with the two working cranks and rotation.
