This is from a log I milled up a few years ago and got 4 slabs from. Some great character in the wood, from spalting to some really tight curl to some character that looks like it is crumpled paper:

Very handsome so far. Is Big Leaf Maple native to Texas? We're the slabs kiln or air dried?
Are those Domino holes with homemade tenons? Why did you go off-set with the tenons?
what size did you end up with, including thickness? I am interested in seeing what you choose
for base or legs.

Sorry kevin, I meant southern sugar maple, not big leaf. But the southern is around in east texas and up to north/central texas along the red river valley.

The slabs were rough milled to 2", kiln dried, then leveled to 1.5". The tenons are home made and the mortises cut with a domino. The reason I went offset was to add extra stiffness to the joint. I was going to do a single larger tenon, but the smaller offset offer higher stiffness and more contact area overall on the joint. The overall dimensions are 73"x42x1.5"

Agree with all, hard to add anything. But...I hope you save and label all the small waste pieces in case of any damage or opening at joint ends. You won't get a better match !
