If you have an interest in science, the (Harvard) Ig Nobel Prizes can be pretty funny.

http://www.improb.com/ig/ig-top.html

To quote from the webpage, "Every Ig Nobel Prize winner has done something that first makes people LAUGH, then makes them THINK."

It's all in good fun and not mean or divisive. Just the funnier side of science.

Examples:

AGRICULTURAL HISTORY: The Significance of Mr. Buckley's Exploding Trousers

PHYSICS: The Pitch Drop Experiment, in which a congealed glob of tar has been slowly dripping through a funnel since 1927 at a rate of about one drop per year.

Ummm, Andrew, perhaps you should re-read the page--the pitch-drop experiment has proceeded at the rate of roughly one drop every nine years!

Odd. That's all I can say.

Mea culpa.

One per nine years...now that's SCIENCE!

I wonder if they got a federal grant to do that. If they did, I'm in the wrong line of work. :D
