Hello All:
By way of introduction, I have been woodworking for about 35 years, I bought
my laser about 4 years ago, unfortunately a 12.5 laser which seems indestructable eccept for breaking a lens by dropping it on the floor a $430
mistake. I am most interested in inlay work and have to draw most of my own
patterns but am finding that quite easy after learning most of the functions
of Corel 12. You can see many of the patterns I've drawn in the last 2 months
at http://www.mcclo.com/ When I first got the laser I drew up plans for a small stagecoach which I thought turned out very well I made parts for 50 of them before I found out they did not sell, I was very dissapointed. I have a sawmill and bring home small logs and mill them, mostly western cedar and pine. The inlay work I've started using Dark walnut and Birdseye maple, I have to resaw it to about 1/8 inch for the laser to cut it, I've tried engraving on mirrors with very good results, I cut vinyl for sandblasting patterns with
excellent results, I don't like cutting plastic because of the odor, my laser
is in my back bedroom. I have not made any money with the machine yet
but I have high hopes for the inlay work. I'm retired I worked 20 years
in many areas of the lumber industry the the last 15 years I worked at
a prison and retired from there. I like to go out on the desert to prospect
for gold. Well that's quite enough for now.
