This is a piece of 11 3/8”W x 4”H cherry that I turned and then used the Lichtenberg burning technique on the outside. You will notice that the outside of the bowl is much darker than the inside. The baking soda solution used to conduct the electricity stained the wood. C&C welcomed.

Looks great. It's odd how the solution stains some wood species. River birch has been the most extreme in my experience.

I don't think the color detracts from the piece. Read about the technique but have never tried it.

That is really different. I think it would be good on a platter also. Beyond my capabilities.

Cherry darkens over time anyway, so I wonder if the inside might eventually "catch up". Actually, I wonder if the solution might be a way to age cherry without the wait...
