Fiber mark black on nickel plated aluminum?

Has anyone ever tried to use a fiber to mark black on nickel plated aluminum? Any settings advice? I checked cermarks website and they have a couple products that they say work with fiber lasers but I sense the consensus here is that cermark and fibers don't work together?

The fiber is likely to blow right thru the nickel plating and into the aluminum before it ever has a chance to go black.

Gary posted up some annealing settings that may work, but it's excruciatingly slow! ;)
