I had bought 6-8 of these little, cheap threaded parts for small Turned Box lids many years ago and would like to buy more now, I spent a couple hours looking online this evening and couldn't even find a picture with a link ... anyone know where I might find them?

Thanks, Tim Boger

Did you check the woodturners catalog?

edit- I figured they might have them but didn't see them. Maybe could modify the salt shaker kit to work somehow?

Hey Dwight ... those are almost identical, can't tell for sure if they're threaded or not.

Thank you for the link, appreciate it.

Morning Mark ... I called them today to ask that very question, I was told that they are not threaded but in fact a friction fit ..... that might work just as well assuming the fit is tight enough that the two halves stay together when hanging (think of a hollowed out Ornament)

Thanks for your feedback, Tim.

It says that they're threaded.

Hmmmm..........any first hand experience with these here?

My thoughts have been inserts of this type would prevent seasonal lid-fit distortions caused by changes in humidity, etc. What I don't know is whether restraining distortion causes problems itself.

I have seen several variations where people used threaded inserts that were cut from PVC pipe, and different metals.

I'm familiar with the PVC method, good option. I do like the gold color against the dark wood.

I'll give more thought to the PVC.

Thanks

I would prefer ABS plastic (black) vs white PVC.

Hey John .. one thing for sure, the PVC threads are much smoother in operation than these inexpensive metal ones. I also prefer black vs white.
