I love Old Photographs and I just wanted to see these expecting some nice pictures. What I got was so much more. A history lesson to say the least. It's 12 mins But take time to read all the info of the photo's. I bet you learn a lot that you didn't know. I sure did. Hope you enjoy:)

I bet you learn a lot that you didn't know.

I wonder if it was common in civil war days to use the flag as a tablecloth - or whether that was just the photographer's idea on one particular day. Apparently, it didn't offend President Lincoln and General McClellan.

Very much enjoyed that. A few pictures of Grant are there. His tomb is in NYC was once the most visited site in America. I visited it a few years ago and we were the only visitors there. Its by Columbia University and beautiful but now rarely visited.

Good stuff,thanks. I doubt that flag photo was staged. There is plenty of info on reverential treatment of flags on both sides. But the codified rules of today are a modern thing.
