I have a customer who dropped off a tungsten carbide dog tag that she would like to have engraved. It's shiny so I don't think CerMark will work on it. I'm assuming you would need a FiberMark laser for this type of metal, correct?

Thought I would answer my own question so others will know. Yes, you can use CerMark on tungsten carbide metal. I was able to engrave the dog tag and not have the CerMark rub off. :)

Thanks for finding out for us! I've have lots of carbide tools around here, never thought to try Cermark on one. :)

Anyone tried using a fiber on Tungsten Carbide tags?

Have used it on carbide, but not a tag. It marks wonderfully.

Ballpark settings? Your Fiber wattage?

Not at work, but it was fast, and probably 80KHz. It leaves a nice mark that you can’t feel at all but looks razor sharp. Maybe 20 ips, possibly a couple passes, but I don’t have it with me. You almost can’t do much wrong to it at 80KHz.

On my 50w Fiber, I used 2 passes at 2000sp 30%pw 90KHz.
