well I got the frugal vaccum pump and so far its working good,,,but I need to ask ,,I know you can buy the hold fast adapter to go in your tail stock to line it up with using your chuck,,,but does anyone have any other ideas on how you can do it without using the adapter,,thank you

I always make a center mark on my tenons with the tail stock. It is easy to use that to line up a piece to finish off the bottom - either with vaccum or not.

you can also buy a Morse taper with a spindle size thread. Then you remove your chuck, with the piece still in place, and mount the chuck on your tailstock. Side the tailstock forward until the piece contacts the vacuum chuck, turn on the vacuum, then remove the tailstock chuck. Sounds a bit complicated, but it takes all of 30 seconds and the alignment is generally perfect.

I prefer a live version like this one (https://www.pennstateind.com/store/LTCA18.html). appears to be less expesive also

I'm with John on this. I always put a center mark on my pieces. That way, when I reverse them to finish the bottom, I can use the live center to help the vacuum chuck hold. The mark from the live center is usually the last thing I turn away prior to finish sanding and applying the finish.

Jeff,
This picture is not with a vacuum chuck, but the principal is the same. If you don't have another method and need to do it precisely by trial and error, a dial indicator will insure it is aligned properly. Turn by hand while aligning, of course.
