I am ready to purchase an Incra Miter Gauge but can't decide between the 1000HD or 1000SE.

Which would you pick?

SE has 5 degree detents. HD has 1 degree. All else appears to be the same.

I have the SE and find 5 degree increments to be fine. I really like the telescoping fence and flip stop, but that appears to come with the HD and the SE. For a few bucks more, I'd get the HD.

That is the only difference.

At this point they are basically the same price. Normally about $30 more for the HD.

$129.99 from Rockler with free shipping, $138 Amazon Prime for the HD.

$135 Amazon Prime for the SE.

I had the SE and then got a good deal on the HD so now that is what I use. Everything is the same except the increments. Amazon has the HD for $4 more.

Is there any problem with the smaller teeth on the HD?

I have the HD but I think either one will work great.....

I have an Incra V27 which has 5 degree increments. It has been a solid performer for the 12-14 years that I've had it.

With the five degree increments can you adjust the angle in between?

Yes, you can adjust the angle infinitely by eye or use a triangle of some sort to measure the angle.

Tim-
I have both the 1000HD and the 5000 sled which uses the 3000SE gauge with 5º increments. There is no problem with indexing at all with the 1º notching on the 1000HD. There is also no problem manually setting in between a degree (or notch). On a 5º notched gauge the same is true.

To answer your question, I agree with PP. Get the 1000HD.

But understand that you have to adjust it to your saw- if you don't have a set of feeler gauges I would get one and set aside enough time to adjust your new gauge perfectly using the 5-cut method.

After that, the fun begins. All of their gauges are awesomely awesome.

I have one of each, both bought on sale at some point. If the price is similar I would choose the HD but for $25 or more dollars less I would just get the SE for my work.

Good choice. I bought the HD myself about 18mos ago. Nice tool.

I have the SE and it does everything I need it to.

Tim, Love mine, but was frustrated with angle cuts until applying sandpaper to the face of the fence. Also, I need to make some adjustments to get the fence 90 degrees vertical (relative to the table, not relative to the blade). Check that. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, by any chance, do you own a SawStop? If you do, beware of the aluminum fence contacting the blade. When you bevel or change the miter setting the distance of the end of the fence alters relative to the blade. I fired my brake twice...

I recommend making an auxiliary fence. The flip stop still extends far enough over the aux fence to work. If you extend your auxiliary fence far enough over the edge of the aluminum base fence, then you'll never have to slide it even if you change the bevel/miter angles.

Does anyone use the Incra Miter Sled with their Miter Guage?

No saw stop here. I plan on making an aux fence for my miter guage

Is there any problem with the smaller teeth on the HD?

Only when the Shop Puppy knocks it off a precarious setting where it was placed for "just a second".

Late to the party but I've been very satisfied with the HD. I don't use the 1° increments very often at all but there's a part of my brain that likes knowing they're available when needed. The teeth are fine but well machined and durable. I haven't had a lick of a problem with them. But as Prashtun related, I also have a couple of partial 45° cuts in mine. Oops. At least I didn't have a brake to fire.

I have the miter express with the 1000hd. I love the combo.

I have both the 1000se and the mitersled 5000. Somone mentioned the 1000se has detents at 5 degress. That is true but you can lock by the degree just not a detent. Thats not a problem. You also have a .5 degree verier scale that allows precision down to the .5 degree. Best investment I ever made. I use it for the small stuff and the sled for panels and longer items.

I've yet to buy an incra producte that is not a well made machine. I have the LS120 positioner on my router table. Fantastic!

These joints were made with a 1000se and miter express.

I have the Incra Miter Express and use my Incra miter gauge with it
