Hi guys! looking to make up a bunch of tops for kids and am wondering what would be the best diameter so I dont have to worry about a choking hazard???? Thanks in advance!!!

Not sure, but big enough to not pass through a toilet paper tube. You can verify, but this is what I've found:
Federal regulations require choking-hazard labeling and warnings (1) if a toy contains a small part or(2) if a small part can be broken off during “use and abuse” testing, such as dropping the toy from a certain height or having a certain amount of force applied to parts of the toy. A “small part” is something that fits completely into a cylinder that is 2.25 inches long by 1.25 inches wide. There is some controversy on this subject. I have made a lot of tops (several thousand) and always made them 1.75 or larger. In the link I posted, in the third paragraph it says 1.75 for balls, this isn't a ball you are turning but it is round.

I shoot for 2" for finger tops.
