Our daughter wants another furniture piece, this one being a copy of a hall bench coat rack she sees in the Rejuvenation Lighting catalog.

So I'll oblige. Very straight-up piece to build, and I will make it easy by using a lot of Festool dominos for the joinery.

The seat plank will need to float a little to compensate for seasonal movement, so I will hard-glue its back edge to the lower face of the wide upright rail that is there, and screw from under to fix it to its frame of rails and stretchers. The float will be achieved by using #10 screws in counterbored holes, hole sizes to accommodate washers, and enough back and forth movement when the plank swells and shrinks.

I think the plank will be held nicely and I likely have more than enough fixing points. What do you think?

That will work ok. What timber are you using? Cheers

Cherry, and for the seat I'd like to use rift.
