My RDWorks8 has 20 layers. Can more laser colors be added?

Reason for me asking is I am setting up a power/speed matrix test on wood 10x10 which would be 100 layers.

Unless someone knows of another way of doing it, the plan was to have a matrix

Left to right Power 10% -> 100% 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100

Top to Bottom Speed mm/s 1000 -> 100

I guess if the limit is 20, then I would have to setup 5 different files, 20 layers each.

Based on your experience if my above proposed settings for a power, speed, interval matrix are screwy, I'm open to suggestions.

I've done exactly what you're doing, just not quite as big--

Rather than go to the trouble of entering 100 different settings, or even 20 for that matter, try this:

Set up the first column with the different speeds.

Now run it at 10%.

While it's running, just slide the whole column over an inch (or whatever your spacing is)-
Now just change the power settings to 20%, then run that---

Repeat until you're done with the 100% column...

It will probably be faster in the long run this way... :)

I got caught up in Rabbit rotary chuck setup today and it derailed my matrix plan. Rotary is working at least.

What is this RDWorks? Is Ray not giving out LaserCut software anymore, or is this better?

I just received my new Rabbit Laser and the new machines are shipping with the Ruida controller. RDworks is the control software for that controller. According to Carole at Rabbit Laser, RDworks is being maintained and supported better than LaserCut. Some threads in this forum also give RDworks better marks than LaserCutler.

I believe it you make the matrix in coreldraw with all the colors you can import it into RDworks and it'll keep all the colors you used.

They have to be rgb colors- Boss laser has a nice test file download with (mostly) colors that are not used in RDworks... but you cannot select them as they are not added to the lower color bar. Gene
