Never seen before: an all metal (except for woodstrip at top and iron holder) plane? No brand. Appears to be owners name in wood.Possibly rabbet or speciality..Can you help? Thanks.

That has to be one of the coolest shoulder planes I've ever seen.

Clean it, sharpen it, use it!

Agree, it looks to be an infill type of shoulder plane.

Looks English to me.
Both Spiers and Norris made infill rabbet planes like this.

Do a Google image search on 'Spiers rabbet plane'.

Jerry, you've probably inferred this from others' replies, but in case not: That plane isn't "all metal except for woodstrip". It's a thin metal shell wrapped around a wood infill.

The two "A7" posts here detail the construction of a modern version: http://sauerandsteiner.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Since the metal encloses most of the nose of the plane. I think this is a cast iron body rather than a dovetailed steel body. I don't know if Spiers or Norris made a cast Rabbet plane, but some other makers like Slater, Clerkenwell (london) did. Still it's a nice plane and I like to use mine (a Mathieson) for all sorts of things. It has a slightly higher pitch than a shoulder plane, but it still has a relatively fine mouth and I think they were intended to be used for finessing rabbets which would be roughed out by a wooden rabbet or badger plane
