Too high in my opinion. New in box is still used if you have any issues. I am not sure if you can register it for a warranty. $200-250 sounds more like it.

I just sold one that is 10 years old but in very good condition for $250.

Years ago I was in a Home Despot and saw their jointer on sale. This was the year they changed from grey to orange. I told the sales associate that I didn't like the orange and he said something along the lines of "Have I got a deal for you." He had one of the grey ones left, still in the box, and other than the color it was exactly the same as the new orange model. He sold it to me (the grey one, of course), for $150. I still have it today and it has served me well over the years.

Turns out the jointer was bought 1 year ago. Poor guy died day after he bought it, son was selling it. If you don't have receipt you can get warranty by using number on motor. I got it for $300. I think it was a pretty good deal.
