A few of you may have read a thread I put up about a job I hope to get drilling 5000 holes in 500 pieces of pine. The holes have to be to a particular depth and I forgot that my drill press has no depth stop set up. Its and old Powermatic and I'm sure it had one years ago but it doesn't now. Anyone have an idea on how to make one? (Stupid question without a picture - I will try to post one tomorrow.)

Check out "split depth collars" at Lee Valley. Or fashion a block or tube that shrouds the part of the drill shank nearest the chuck so only the needed drill depth protrudes.

Drop the table far enough that the drill only goes in as far as you want when you hit the bottom of the movement.
