Good Morning Everyone,
It seem like forever since I've posted last but that's also primarily due to me being in Las Vegas all week last week for a Veritas technical symposium at the Aria Hotel/Casino. I came home with a great measuring of "information over-load". :)

I did 2 things on my bucket list last week....1. Go visit a casino and 2. Gamble for the first time in my life. I gambled $40 and I left it all in Vegas. ;)
I loved how dry the weather was there and the awesome things I got to see while there...the engineering, design, and architecture of the buildings was simply awesome to me. I didn't have a lot of time to do much of anything as we were booked solid daily with tech-symposium stuff to attend and do. One day, I'd love to go back as a tourist and see the desert areas and see the grand canyon.

Gearing up for phase 3 of the bowling alley work this coming week. I should be more ready to work in the shop since the temps are getting a bit cooler. I love it when it gets cooler around here!

That's it for me, so what did YOU do this past weekend?

Best of weeks to you all.

It was my last weekend for this work stint. I finally finished machining for the dining chairs and bar stools I am working on. The back frames are assembled and I am onto hand finishing the other components prior to assembly. I weakened and assembled the back frames with TBIII which served as a reminder why I don't use PVA glue of any description very much at all. These glues can react with eucalypt species and turn the timber black, especially where a damp rag is used to clean off excess glue. As a result I have a few black stains to scrape out. I will go back to epoxy for the rest of the job. Cheers

We hadn't had rain for awhile, so there was no need to mow...leaving more time to "do stuff. That "stuff" pretty much was the demolition work for an unplanned bathroom renovation for the room my older daughter uses for that purpose. It was originally the "master bath" for the house prior to us putting on our major addition in 2008...and it's been needing some attention for some time. The red-ish pink wall paper is down (with the thankless task left of removing the backing and glue) and the demolition work for the crusty old shower is done except for the pan. The latter will get done next weekend after I can get the ceiling open below it for plumbing access. (this project started as a plumbing issue and made sense to do "just because") A new, larger 34x48 shower, new toilet and new sink will be installed. (fixtures in white) The large jacuzzi will get painted white by a specialty company later when I have the funds for that. The cabinetry will get painted white and may get new doors if I have the time for that. Walls will be painted...no more wallpaper.

So this was my weekend...

I changed the blades in my planer this weekend, developed a jig and alignment process. Though my initial alignment left a lot to be desired, time spent away from the project just thinking about it proved to be instrumental.

Now to get a couple more things done and drive to my hardwood supplier. I want to buy some red oak, move it into my shop and allow it to acclimate for a couple weeks.

344385 I worked on my soon to be grandson's nursery for my daughter and son-in-law. We put up floating shelves, and trimmed the bottom of doors to clear the area rug. I did the paneling about a month ago...

I painted the front porch one of the "honey do's" on my list, and watched some college football one of the items on my list.
