Trying to match an existing triple bead pattern on a door panel. The beads run vertically in the door panel with about a 3" reveal on all sides.
Can it be done with a router?

A picture would help quite a bit.

It sounds like you may be able to use a v-groove router bit and shape the rest by hand. You could also use a molding plane with a "bead and follow" profile.

You can get a beading cutter for a router. Carbitool make a few variations in their TB series. There will be similar cutters in other brands. Cheers

Can't comprehend without a picture.

I think the answer was "yes" until you got to the 3" reveal then it went to "no". A triple bead router bit would work if you were willing to cut the molding as a strip and then glue the reveal on either side. Other than that your options would be a shaper cutter, an insert cutter, or a beading plane.
