Any suggestions on replacement knives for a 2030? Makita doesn't have them anymore and the only source I've been able to find are from E Replacement Parts and they want $180 plus shipping, no these are not carbide but they are approx 1/8" thick, and they don't have the jointer knives. Is there someone-somewhere who makes custom knives or another source?

thanks folks - Bill

I don't know that planer, so I don't know if the knife dimensions are standard, but Infinity Tools, Carbide Processors, and Woodworker's Tool Works come to mind as three possible sources. I've bought router bits from Infinity and jointer knives from WWTW. Carbide Processors is a sponsor here.

Bill, let us know what you find. If they are getting hard to find I might have to stock up. I have new blades on my jointer but the planer blades are probably ready soon. The jointer blades I had were part of my purchase package so I haven't had to buy any yet. Might end up sharpening the ones I have from the sounds of it.

Search on Amazon. Makita 793014-3 Planer Blade. Claims two sources, says for Makita 2030N. $45-$62

Jerry,
Thanks for the effort but the 2030N is 12.5" versus 2030 at 12" and has a different hole pattern which is part of what makes $180 so hard to swallow.
