Engraving Sound Wave file on Wood

I have a job where the customer had the heartbeat of their baby recorded, put into pdf, and wants the sound wave etched into wood. The file itself is a series of tiny rectangles. What is the best way to go about getting it ready for the laser? Will etching the hundreds of tiny rectangles be the best/only option?

Without seeing the file you'll get nothing more than a wild guess. Post a jpg or cdr and you'll probably get a better answer.
