I just ordered a festool Planer HL 850 . I will be using it to shape the headboard I'm starting. Does anyone else have it? and do you have any tips or techniques you want to share ? I will be curving the face of the headboard slightly. I'm using the bubinga that you might have seen on the nightstands. The reason I went with the Festool is because it has an angled blade and I figured that would help with the high figure of the bubinga.

Thanks

I used one for a few minutes in my shop when Uncle Bob brought "everything" to try out. While I had never used one before, I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth it operated. I think it will work nicely to help you sculpt your headboard. And it also works nicely with the CT dust extractors...nice when you are working on Bubinga which for me is VERY reactive.

I have a couple of hand planers. They are good for straight planning, like door edges..
