Bow arm Morris Chair made of chechen?

Hi,

A friend has asked that I build a Morris chair for her this year. She was looking at wood samples in my garage, and really gravitated to the dark figured stuff, specifically a piece of Chechen/Caribbean rosewood. I hinted that walnut can be dark, and it's lighter weight, and north american, etc, but she really liked the figure/color. She specifically said she didn't want a lighter wood stained.

Has anyone else made/seen a Morris chair made out of a tropical hardwood? I have only used this stuff for cutting boards and bows (archery). I remember it being a kind of a pain. I can see a problem with the bow arm lamination, due to the oily nature of the wood, and the massive glue-up that element requires. Any other risks to using this wood?

Any other woods to recommend that might be easier/cheaper?

I worked with Chechen once and only once.I was very sensitive to the dust.It was a simple candle stick I was turning.
Be sure you can work with it before you commit.
If you don't want to do the job in Chechen just give her a price that lights her hair on fire.
Then a price in walnut to cool her down.:)
