I'd like to make a bookcase (not big, maybe 5' h x 2.5' w) with sliding glass/wood frame doors. My problem is that I'm not sure what to use to slide them on. I see rockler has sliding door hardware but was hoping for a cheaper alternative ($30.99 per door). I thought of dados with Slipit but not sure I'd like looking at big dados or maybe cutting a tenon on top and bottom of door so the dado wouldn't have to be as big but not sure how this would work. Any other ideas, hardware or otherwise?

Have you looked at these? They are easy to install and run very smooth, FYI price is in $cdn.

Another option could be sliding screen door hardware from a Big Box.

Thank you, that seems like a viable option

I almost fell over backwards when I saw the more than 50% price increase from when I bought them 5 years ago.

on a whim, I checked the Rockler on-line catalogue and the hardware is on sale for 50% off -- US$15.50 per pack/door

Wow, thank you so much!! I just ordered them but of course they say they have been oversold so they won't be in until aug. 30 but well worth the wait
