Last year, I picked up my first band saw - a 1956 14" Delta 28-290 woodworking BS. I haven't used it much and haven't used a BS since junior high about 50 years ago. Wondering what brand, size, type, etc of general purpose bandsaw blades people prefer? Thanks guys!

Lenox Diemaster II 1/4" x 6tpi is the only blade I use on my 14" Delta.

I use Timberwolf blades. I keep their 3806PC 3/8" X 6PC blade in my saw 75% of the time. The rest of the time it depends on what I'm doing. I have their 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4" blades for scrolling & curvy work. I use a 1/2" for bigger stuff, and I have their 3/4" X 2/3VPC blade for resawing veneer. But that 3/8" blade is my every day user.

I use Timberwolf blades...

+1 here. Timberwolves have always done well for me. I know that some folks have complained about bad welds or something to that effect but that's the vendor, not the actual blade stock, and you can get bad welds from any vendor.

Starrett 8/12 wavey .030 x 3/8" bimetal.
Cuts up to 3/4" aluminum, >1" of Acrylic, all wood,
MDF, ply, cardboard. Never change the blade.
Even re-saw with it.

While I typically leave a 1/2" on my 16" saw, for a 14", I'd most likely use a 1/4" or 3/8" blade for "general purpose" cutting. I also buy Timberwolf blades and have for many years.

I cut mostly 5/8"r. curves in 3/4" maple and 1-1/2"r. curves 1-3/4" ash. I use 3/16"4T and 1/4"6T blades.

Lenox Diemaster II 1/4" x 6tpi is the only blade I use on my 14" Delta.Bing, Bing, we have a winner! This is my do everything blade. I cut out car bodies from 2 X 4 stock for Toys For Tots program, usually close to a thousand per year. Each body has about 8" of cut length. This represents about 600 feet per year. Last blade was on saw for 12 years, which means it cut over a mile, before breaking due to fatigue. Cost about three times a cheap blade, but last many times more.

I like Olsen 3/8 wide .020 4t skip. I buy several at a time at Rockler it's just a wood blade but will cut a good variety.
And leave a good surface if your saw runs good.
I woundnt bother with anything thicker than .025 on a 14 inch wheel.Thats just too thick.

I use blades from "SuperCut" I use 1/2" carbide for re-sawing and 3/16" 4 TPI blade for making band saw boxes. I have a GO555 14" saw.

Supercut here as well. 1/2" 3 t.p.i. and 1/4" 6 t.p.i. When I order again I'm going to try one of their woodsaver or woodsaver plus. It sounds like they should leave smoother finishes. .025" blade that is supposed to leave a .030" kerf.

I have a Rikon 14" saw and had been using Timberwolf and Olsen blades. The nearby Woodcraft started carrying blades from Starrett that seemed to be getting good reviews and are at a nice price point. I've recently tried several 3/8" and 1/2" versions that worked well

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It sounds like I shouldn't have any problems using a Starrett or Timberwolf blade locally from Woodcraft!
