I finished this turning a couple months ago, figured I might as well post a pic of it here. 8" diameter x 6.5" tall Maple Burl with an Ebony collar. Finished with several coats of lacquer then wet sanded to 2500 grit and buffed.

Travis, you really have a knack for form in your turnings. They are absolutely outstanding in that respect which only is enhanced with your excellent selection of material. This one is very much in line with that! Wonderful!

Travis,

Really nice piece. I love that gloss look to the finish.

I wish someone would teach me how to turn one of those collars....

Way, WAY nice, Travis! I've yet to make a hollow form and, by the looks of things, may not get a chance to try for a while, so I really enjoy seeing what others come up with. Yours is truly a winner! Beautiful.:)

Travis, another beauty!!! I love maple burl just haven't had an opportunity to turn any. It is better that it is in your hands cause you know what to do with it as this wonderful form shows. Most excellent! :)

Travis, I have seen a lot of hollowforms and this is one of the most beautiful examples I have viewed. The wood is gallery quality, the design and lines of the piece are pleasing to the eyes, and the finish is one to imulate. I appreciate your work and thank you for showing it to us.

Seriously Travis, I have seen this hollow form before and although it is really hard to pick a favorite from all your work, this is most definitely a front runner!! Absolutely georgous!
