Looks like LV is supposed to have another Bessey sale as well. Details are supposed to be available this weekend.

Is this an unadvertised special at the store?

I just checked the Woodcraft web site, couldn't find anything about the sale, maybe it's not on there yet? The flyer says while supplies last.

I thought the sale doesn't begin until October 1st.

Check before you drive out.

Bessey is celebrating their 25th anniversary of the K-body I believe. Pretty much anyone who sells K-bodies is suppose to have them on sale for I've heard 25% off (someone said 40%, but can't confirm that). The sell starts on October 1st and is based on while supplies last.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I just recently started building my collection of K-body Besseys......started w/ 1...:D

I'll keep an eyeball peeled for these going on sale.

Thanks!

Woodcraft is honoring the sale starting today. My local store has restocked the display 3 times already. I bought (4) 24" and (2) 40" at 21.99 ea. and 26.99 ea. respectively; these are my first K-bodies!!!! :D

NOTE: at this time, these 2 sizes are the only ones that are 40% off at Woodcraft

I think those will be the only sizes that you'll see if I read right. I was hoping maybe the 60's would show up, sure could use 4 of those to go along with the approx 50 of other sizes I have.

My tool fund is dry these days, but I don't have any good high-end clamps yet, so I went ahead and jumped in at LeeValley and got the 12/24 package. Hopefully, I'll run into some cash before the sale ends so I can get some more. :)

I'm excited to have some real nice clamps on the way.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just ordered some of the Bessey clamps along with some stuff on my wish list.

I have all cabinet masters. No Besseys. Think I'll order a few just to try them out, and I do need some 12, 18's. So I guess I could get the 24's and cut them down.

Anybody here cut yours down?

Nope Steve, I just bought a 10 pack from Amazon some time back was like $200 for 10 I beleive. Sure love the 12" bessey's as I use them all the time.

I know you can buy 2 12's and 2 24's for $75 at Lee Valley.

Last night I ordered the 12/25 set from LV. I decided against the Bessey Uniklamp in the 18" size because they were gonna be about the same cost as the K-bodys.

5 24 inch clamps from Woodcraft. If you order by 12 tonight you can save shipping. In my case that was 10.50. Total was 107. Not bad!

and picked up 2 40s (sounds like Malt Liquor :D ). They wheeled out a whole pallet of clamps. I guess they're gonna sell quite a few.

My wife looked at me when I saw the pallet like she thought I would hurl myself onto it.

The LV sounds like a better deal, but I don't think I need any more 24s. Did I just say that?

Well I was at my local Woodcraft at 9 AM this morning, plastic in hand ready to get all clamped up! They had a large number of the discounted Bessys. Although the flyer only mentioned 24 in. and 40 in. the store had all sizes on sale. I was going to get 4 24s and then the salesman said 'With a purchase of $100 or more you get a free year subscription to 'WoodCraft' mag. Chanting 'You just can't have too many clamps' to myself I grabbed one more 24. Free clamp or free subscription! Either way, way cool! :)

For years I have observed the female technique of not focusing on how much it cost, but 'how much I saved' for sale items. So when I got home, LOML asks THE question and I respond w/ 'I saved $72!' She thought for a moment and said, "You musta spent $200 or more :( ". I say, "Nope, 40% off only spent 'a little' over $100."

Well she congratulated me on the good deal. She IS a keeper!!

I need all new clamps!!! I started to buy two sets of (A) two 12" plus two 25" and two sets of (B) two 25" and two 50" from Lee Valley, but started thinking what in the world would anyone use expensive 12" clamps for unless you build small boxes so I decided that four sets of (B) two 25" and two 50" and if you need shorter cut them down as Steve said, after all it would only cost $14 more per box. Any flaw in this thinking?

Then I remembered a post from someone that had CS, Cabinet Masters and Besseys and said that he always used CS's first, then the Cabinet Masters and the Besseys last. Makes me worry that since I would be spending so much money I might be making a mistake not waiting for a sale on one of the two other brands, probably spending more but getting better clamps since I was going to have them forever. Are the Besseys just as good and the guys likeing the other two are just more used to using them or are the Besseys inferior?

Any imputs would be appreicated. Thanks!!!! Allen

I think it is like chevy and ford, both do the job and some have preferences over the others. I have had both, sold all the Jorgies and loaded up on the bessey's. Just my preference. I've never had a Bessey stick and had every one of the Jorgies stick at some point during a glue up.

As for 12's, I have 10 and used them all the time. Would I jump to buy them first, probably not. I started with 40's, then added 24's and 50's. I have about 50 total K-body's so I am well set with a good mix. I wondered how much I would use the 12's and find that I use them all the time. I did get by with 24"s before I hade them.

Thanks Scott,

Since it took a while to get a response on this thread I started a new one (Will I be happy with Bessey clamps?) the same time that you were responding. Sorry! Thanks for the information. Allen

If you don't have access to a local Woodcraft store, see if your big box store will match their sale price. Mine did (the blue one), and took an additional 10% off! So I was able to get some 40" Bessey K-bodies for $24.26 each.
