The grain in this thing is just incredible341765341766 I love it !Im sure some one else would have made it look a million times better and the pics just don't do it justice but I had a great time giving it a try ! thank you all as always , I'll post some better pictures when I can have a great day!! Oh sorry about that I was so excited to show you all I forgot to say , Its maple and the finish is just shellac I want to do a couple more coats I think though, this thing was such a big deal to me ,my brother brought it back from Virginia right after I got my first lathe before I had any decent tools or ways to sharpen them ,so i started roughing it out and there was a bark inclusion that was just to big for me to work through so I stopped working on it for almost 5 months.once I had a real bowl gouge and a wee bit more experience I was able to turn that bark out and BAM! awesome grain craziness inside !!!! It was a huge deal for me to be able to finish it , I know I need a ton of work on my form and tool presentation ,but I'm proud of it nonetheless :)
