Finally decided to upgrade my no. 5 with a Hock blade and chip breaker. It felt kinda wrong putting the new blade and breaker in the rusty 5 so I decided to clean her up along with a tuning up. I can't believe I waited this long. What a joy to use.

Very, very nice. I'm sad to say that I haven't yet found the patience to get my planes looking like that.

For me, sandpaper removed the worst of the rust quickly, but from there on it seemed to be getting me absolutely nowhere.

Do you have any tricks that I don't know about, or was it just endless hours of sanding and sheer determination? :D

At any rate, absolutely beautiful plane. Would love to have seen what it looked like before.

Well done Eric, it looks great...and glad to hear it's back in service!

Nice work on a type 17 jack.

I keep hoping to find the time to do a repainting of many of my planes. They just feel more enjoyable to use when they are all spiffed up.
