I've just turned 39 for the 17th time, and felt I was worthy of a little Birthday gift. I've always has a soft spot for block planes, so I thought a good one was in order. The good people at Lie-Nielsen had just the ticket. Here's my new LN #60 1/2 with some teammates. From R to L:

Stanley #18, Stanley #65, LN #60 1/2, Stanley #60 1/2, Millers Falls #56 (#60 1/2 clone).

The other four are antique store/flea market finds and are fine planes in their own right, but the LN really shines. A little honing and I was taking very thin, full width shavings in a jiffy.

Rob,

Most of the time when I need a block plane I use a shop made woodie but my LN #60 1/2 is finding more and more love. A good looking set of five.

Happy birthday! and I like the way you count. This year was my 30th. Since I started driving...

And nice new addition; mine has been a long time favorite.
