Don`t know if or what you guy`s use for Sanding Aides but I found these and they work Exceptionally well and are very reasonable.

First Soft Sanders: https://www.amazon.com/Soft-Sanders-5-Set-of-Six/dp/B003DL8URI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1469654339&sr=8-3&keywords=soft+sanders

Second some of these: https://www.amazon.com/Dura-Block-AF4404-Black-Round-Sanding/dp/B004BBAMVQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469654489&sr=8-1&keywords=Dura+Block+round+sanders

They make these in 1" 3/4" and up.

The Soft Sanders are Exceptional in getting into those tight and unusual shapes easily. And yes I use my hands and fingers as well these just make it easier with less Heat.

Those could be very useful on rolled rims and some hollow forms. I stumbled on to a wierd soft sander several years ago. Buy a cheap 6" wool buffer at HF and mount in a drill. Then take a 6" 220 psa sandpaper and stick it to it. You can use the whole 6" paper with no edge dig in--great on platters or flat work or anything.
