When you slice a branch across - so that the rings show - and maybe an inch thick, what is that resulting slice called. I've seen the name, but just can't remember what it's called. A friend was asking me about that kind of woodworking and I could not bring up the name of those slices.

Thanks. The word I was looking for was "oyster". Don't know why I couldn't remember that - just getting old, I guess.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
