I really need a jointer and found this one off of CL. It looks like it's in very good condition though even at $550, it's a steep price for me. Most 8" jointers cost $800-1000+ so I'm a bit suspicious of the quality.
What say you, wise folks? Should I make a counter offer?

There's also the Grizzly G0452: https://nwct.craigslist.org/tls/5687662515.html
Which the seller wants $400 for. It looks like it's in good condition. I just sent him an email inquiring about it's condition.

Google doesn't seem to know anything about the "ILTEC" brand...

Looks suspiciously like a 6" jointer, to me. I'd ask the seller to measure the length of the knives - I wonder if he's measuring the width of the table and rounding up a bit...

The dovetail ways are not as easy to adjust as a parallogram bed. I think that's probably an indicator of a cheaper machine.

I'd pass on the Grizzly, just because 6" isn't big enough for most people.

The 8" jointer is one of the Taiwanese Geetech clones so parts won't be an issue - I used to have a Sunhill and got the parts I needed from JET-, and it looks to be in decent working condition. It's been for sale for a while so that tells me that the market thinks the price is wrong. I'd offer $400 if it suited my needs.

Here's a recent thread on jointer width that will hopefully convince you that it's worth spending the time/money to buy an 8" model:

63" bed length leads me to believe its 8". Furthermore, 220v means it has a 1.5-2hp motor, which I dont remember any of the 6" having that. Hopefully solves some of the mystery before heading out.
