Wet double stick tape

I went to use my double stick tape yesterday. (Brand new roll) and discovered that it was wet.
water spilled near it and it was useless. Any ideas how to bring it back. I am thinking if putting
it in rice. I have ordered another roll but I want to get going on this project.

For anyone that is interested the rice trick worked great, the double stick tape now works as it should.
When wet it was sticking to itself and when I took the paper off there was no stick.
