Don't know if anyone else has turned Russian Olive?
Included is a picture of the tree, a close-up of the thorns or rather "spikes" (note the scale for size of the spikes). A pain to harvest (pun intended).
Picture of two pens, one finished dark, one light. The light one has some "chatoyance" that makes it shimmer depending on how you hold it.
Recommendation is to finish it light since the dark one is non-descript. These were an experiment, only. Not my best work but again, just an experiment to see if this wood was useful for something other than a neanderthal weapon.
